U.S. Embassy Seoul Celebrates Halloween Day 2006

On Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 9:30 a.m., the Information Resource Center (IRC) of the Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy Seoul, will hold its fifth Holiday Series Program to celebrate Halloween Day.  This year’s theme is “Halloween Tradition in American Life: Folklore and Folklife,” and it will feature a keynote talk conducted via Digital Video Conference (DVC) with special speaker Nathan Boyack, U.S. diplomat in  Seoul.  Audience members in Seoul will be joined by participants at the American Corner in Daegu via DVC.  The festivities in Seoul will continue throughout the day and feature a Halloween costume contest and trivia questions with prizes.  Consecutive interpretation will be provided.

Participants will be welcomed by Deputy Public Affairs Officer Michael A. Richards, and he will also present awards to winners of the Halloween costume contest.  Two American diplomats, Megan Bartholomew and Amy Canning, will discuss “Sharing Memories of Halloween Day,” from 11:20 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

The U.S. Embassy Holiday Series celebrates American holidays and other special events.  The Information Resource Center of the Public Affairs Section invites college students, high school students, and other youth groups to participate in the Holiday Series programs.  The program is free of charge and open to the public.  Media are welcome to attend.
