U.S. Ambassador Alexander Vershbow Tours Anseong Pear Packinghouse

November 21, 2006

On Tuesday, November 21, U.S. Ambassador Alexander Vershbow will visit Anseong and tour the pear-packing factory from 1615 to 1645. The visit is to observe the packing and shipping process of Korean sand pears to the U.S.  The Korean sand pear program is a mature and very successful program that benefits both countries.  Inspecting fruit prior to shipment to the U.S. provides Korean farmers greater assurances that their product will be accepted on arrival.  This program is funded by the Korean government.

This event is open to the media.  Media wishing to cover this event should contact Ms. Choi Eun-kyong at 010-9133-2084 or Ms. Kwon Jhee-hyun at 02-397-4659.
