U.S. Embassy Seoul Celebrates the Labor Day

August 31, 2005
05-29

On Friday, September 2, 2005 at 9:30 A.M., the Information Resource Center (IRC) of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul will hold its fifth Holiday Series Program in honor of U.S. Labor Day. “Strength, Freedom, and Leadership of American Workers: The Meaning of Labor Day to Americans” will feature a keynote talk conducted via Digital Video Conference (DVC) with Katherine Quan, Chair of Center for Labor Research and Education, University of California, Berkeley. Audiences in Seoul will be joined by participants at the Busan Dongeui University Center for American Studies and Daegu Yeungnam University American Center via DVC.

This event is part of the U.S. Embassy Holiday Series, a new initiative in 2005. To celebrate American holidays and other special events, the Public Affairs Section schedules Open House events and invites college and high school students and other youth groups.

The festivities in Seoul will continue throughout the day with DVC, free discussion with American experts on labor issues, and with American trivia quizzes and prizes.
Consecutive interpretation will be provided.

This program is free of charge and is open to the public. Media are welcome to attend.

For general information about the event, the public should contact IRC staff at 02-397-4605 or 4647.
