Secretary plans to discuss political, economic issues with leaders

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will travel to China, Thailand, Japan and South Korea July 8-13, the State Department announces.

STATEMENT BY SEAN MCCORMACK, SPOKESMAN

Travel by Secretary Rice to East Asia

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will travel to China, Thailand, Japan and the Republic of Korea from July 8 - July 13.

During her stops in each country Secretary Rice will meet with senior government officials for discussions of political and economic issues of bilateral concern, as well as global and regional matters of mutual interest such as the North Korean nuclear issue, cooperation on fighting terrorism and transnational crimes, and tsunami recovery and reconstruction efforts.
