U.S. Embassy Launches Café USA in Daum Cafes
Today the U.S. Embassy launched Café USA, an online community in Daum Cafes. The U.S. Embassy has launched Café USA to encourage an open and honest dialogue with Korean Internet users. The Embassy looks forward to engaging in an active discussion via this medium, recognizing that Korea has one of the highest rates of Internet users in the world.
U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Christopher R. Hill said, in announcing the launch, "As we live in a high-tech era, the Embassy must find new ways to reach out to people. I look forward to reading the views of the Korean public by reading the posts on Café USA and sharing my thoughts on Korea-U.S. relations with the Korean people. I know it is important for us to listen to Korean viewpoints, and I hope people will find Café USA a useful forum to express their views on Korean-American relations."
While the Embassy will not be able to respond to every message individually, Ambassador Hill will post a message in the Cafe on a weekly basis. Additionally, other Embassy officials will reply to messages as appropriate.
You can find a link to Café USA on the Embassy's website http://seoul.usembassy.gov/ or by going to http://cafe.daum.net/usembassy. We look forward to hearing from you!
