Credit cards
Effective October 14, 2003 the following "logoed" credit/debit cards may be used at the embassy cashier to pay for Department of State (DOS) consular fees listed on the Schedule of Fees (see web link), except for Nonimmigrant (MRV) application and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) immigration fees:

MRV fees are payable only at Shinhan Banks. DHS fees are payable only in dollar or won cash or money order at the embassy cashier. The embassy cashier will continue to accept dollar or won cash or money order for all other consular fees, except the MRV fee.
U.S. embassy cashiers can only accept credit/debit card payments when cardholders are physically present in order to verify the cardholder's identity and signature, after we obtain electronic payment authorizations from card issuers. The U.S. Government reserves the right to suspend, modify or discontinue credit/debit card transactions without notice, if it is determined to be in the national interest. All credit/debit card transactions will be in U.S. dollars, although cardholders residing abroad may be billed in the local currency in which their card account is held. When cardholders are billed in the local currency, the foreign exchange rate and any transaction fees are set by the card issuer. The U.S. Government is not responsible for these rates or fees. No cash-back transactions or foreign currency conversions are allowed.
