Don Q. Washington, U.S. Embassy Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs, Receives Honorary Doctorate at Dong-eui University

Mr. Don Q. Washington, Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy Seoul, is to receive an Honorary Doctorate in Political Science from Dong-eui University in Busan on February 18, 2005.
According to Kim In-do, President of the University, Dong-eui University has decided to present an honorary doctorate degree in Politics "in recognition of Mr. Washington's outstanding contributions in promoting U.S.-Korea relations and American Studies programs in Korea." Dong-eui University will organize the conferment of his honorary degree at their annual graduate school commencement ceremony, which will be held at 11 a.m. on February 18, 2005, at the University's Grand Auditorium.
Mr. Washington has had a long and distinguished career in Korea as an American diplomat. He has served three times in Korea, including as Director of the American Cultural Center in Busan in 1986. Mr. Washington returned to Korea in 1995 as Deputy Director of the U.S. Information Service in Seoul, and now serves as Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.
