Special Olympic athletes, volunteers, and U.S. Embassy staff gather in Pyeongchang for the Special Olympics World Winter Pre-Games. The Embassy’s participation demonstrated its continued support for the Games, the athletes, and the Special Olympics message. Approximately 300 athletes and coaches from nine countries including the U.S. attended the pre-games, which held competitions in alpine and cross-country skiing, short track speed skating, and figure skating.
