Health Information

The following information and list of physicians and dentists known to speak acceptable English have been prepared by the U.S. Embassy to assist American citizens.  The list is not meant to be an exhaustive one, nor should inclusion in the list be construed as official Embassy endorsement or recommendation of specific physicians and dentists.

To assure your good health and to make your visit to South Korea as rewarding as possible, we would like you to be aware of existing health hazards and facilities that you may need to use in protecting yourself against disease.  Seoul city water is chlorinated and some of the major hotels have their own chlorination systems.  Although the water is chlorinated, it is best to drink carbonated beverages, hot tea, hot coffee, beer, or wine.  Eating salads and uncooked vegetables may be unsafe.  Also avoid eating raw fish.

NOTE

Anyone publishing names from the following list must accompany the names with a conspicuous statement as follows:

"These names have been furnished by the Consular Section of the American Embassy, Seoul, Republic of Korea.  American consular offices at any foreign post will, upon request, furnish a similar list of physicians and dentists to any individual."

The American Embassy, Seoul, Korea, assumes no responsibility for the professional ability or integrity of the persons or hospitals whose names appear in the list.  Please click here to view "Major Hospitals with English-Speaking Staff"
