U.S. Embassy Seoul Celebrates the Declaration of Independence

On Friday, July 1, 2005 at 09:30 A.M., the Information Resource Center (IRC) of the U.S.

Embassy in Seoul will hold its fourth Holiday Series Program in honor of U.S. Independence Day.  “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness: What the Declaration of Independence has Meant to Americans throughout History” will feature a keynote talk conducted via Digital Video Conference (DVC) with Thomas J. Degnan, a specialist in U.S. Colonial History at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia – the home of the Liberty Bell and the birthplace of the United States. Audiences in Seoul will be joined by participants at the American Corners in Daegu and Gwangju via DVC. The festivities in Seoul will continue throughout the day with performances by an American Brass Band and with American trivia quizzes and prizes. Consecutive interpretation will be provided.

This program is free of charge and is open to the public. Media are welcome to attend.
