U.S. Embassy Celebrates Global Youth Service Day
The U.S. Embassy will celebrate Global Youth Service Day on Friday, April 14, from 4-8 p.m., with a Digital Video Conference (DVC) linking Seoul and Gwangju on the theme of “Sharing a Vision, Having Fun, and Becoming One.”
This program will be held in the Information Resource Center at Namyoung-dong, Seoul, and the American Corner in Gwangju via DVC.
This event is the second in 2006 for the U.S. Embassy’s Holiday Series. This year, the U.S. Embassy is organizing this event in conjunction with a student group from Yonsei University called “Movers of Volunteer Enrichment (MOVE).” To celebrate American holidays and other special events, the U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Section invites college and high school students to programs such as the Holiday Series in order to reach out to these young future global leaders.
The three guest speakers for this program on April 14 are Mr. Matthew Todd Black (Seoul American High School), Mr. Oh Joo Ul (Goodwill Cooperation Service Toward a Global Common Society), and Lee Sun Jae (UNESCO). They will speak on youth community activities and share their meaning of volunteerism.
Introductory welcoming remarks will be offered by Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs Don Q. Washington. The program will include keynote speeches, music and sign language performances, introduction of group participants, and other social activities.
