U.S. Embassy Consular Section Expands its
Business Registration Program
On May 1st, the U.S. Embassy’s Consular section expanded its Business Registration Program (BRP) membership by nearly 50 percent, from 148 to 222 companies. Nearly all of the new BRP members are also members of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA). Each of the companies conducts over US$20 million in trade annually with U.S.-based companies. On April 26, the Embassy hosted a BRP orientation introducing the companies to the program.
The Business Registration Program has represented an integral component of the U.S. Embassy’s nonimmigrant visa (NIV) section for the past 18 years. Through the BRP, the employees of BRP member companies apply for visitor (B1/B2) visas through an expedited application process. For instance, BRP company employees enjoy a shorter appointment wait time and an expedited interview. The U.S. Embassy regards the BRP as an important way not only to facilitate member companies’ business opportunities in the U.S., but also to strengthen U.S.-ROK relations in general.
The U.S. Embassy looks forward to processing the visas of its newest BRP members. The Embassy welcomes qualified companies to apply to become BRP members.
