U.S. Embassy Seoul Celebrates the Declaration of Independence

On Friday, July 7, 2006 at 09:30 A.M., the Information Resource Center (IRC) of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul will hold its third Holiday Series Program in honor of U.S. Independence Day. “The 4th of July: Why We Celebrate?” will feature a keynote talk conducted via Digital Video Conference (DVC) with James I. Deutsch, a program curator in Smithsonian Institution’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. Audiences in Seoul will be joined by participants at the American Corners in Busan and Gwangju via DVC. The festivities in Seoul will continue throughout the day with performances by an American Brass Band and with American trivia quizzes and prizes. Consecutive interpretation will be provided.

This program is free of charge and is open to the public. Media are welcome to attend.
