On Thursday, January 19 at 5:15p.m., U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer Don Q. Washington will visit the American Corner at the Busan Metropolitan Simin Municipal Library. In addition to presenting a book donation to the Library’s American Corner, Mr. Washington will re-sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that the Embassy has with the library. Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and Korean public libraries, American Corners Korea is a joint partnership project that promotes cooperation and understanding between the United States and Korea by providing open, accurate, and factual information about the United States in a variety of formats to the Korean people. Currently, there are three American Corners in Korea: Busan, Daegu, and Gwangju. To support the American Corners, the U.S. Embassy provides furniture, computer and electronic equipment, books, CD-ROMS, videos, and DVDs for the library’s use. Members of the media wishing to cover this event should contact Mr. Byun Jung Hwan, at 02-397-4652.
