On Friday, February 10, U.S. Ambassador Alexander Vershbow will visit the American Corner at the Daegu Metropolitan Jungang Library to participate in a book donation ceremony.
The Daegu American Corner opened in the Daegu Metropolitan Jungang Library on March 19, 2004. Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and Korean public libraries, American Corners Korea is a joint partnership project that promotes cooperation and understanding between the United States and Korea by providing open, accurate and factual information about the United States in a variety of formats to the Korean people. Currently, there are three American Corners in Korea -- in Busan, Daegu and Gwangju. To support the American Corners, the U.S. Embassy provides furniture, computer and electronic equipment, books, CD-ROMs, videos, and DVDs for the libraries’ use.
