U.S. Embassy Seoul Co-Hosts Daegu American Corner Film Festival

On Friday, February 9 from 09:50 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the American Corner in the Daegu Metropolitan Central Library, the Regional Program Office of U.S. Embassy Seoul will co-host the first Daegu American Corner Film Festival.  The event will be part of a series of monthly film festivals at each of the three American Corners in Busan, Daegu, and Gwangju.  Teachers, students, and parents from the Daegu area will be invited.  Space is available on first come, first served basis.  Snacks, refreshments, and door prizes will be offered.

The theme of this festival is "The Long Journey: The African-American Experience in American Film."  From 9:50 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Ambassador Alexander Vershbow and Lisa Vershbow will lead a discussion with audience members on the short film Everyday Use.  Embassy Specialist Choi Eun-kyong will screen and talk about the classic feature film To Kill a Mockingbird.  Finally, Assistant Regional Program Officer John Choi will show and discuss “April 15, 1947: The Day that Jackie Robinson Changed Baseball and America.”
