AFI Project: 20/20 arrives in Korea

An award-winning American independent screenwriter and actor, Hubbel Palmer, will be visiting Seoul and Busan from May 5 through 9 to meet with students and Korean film industry leaders about common themes in film screenplays as well as discuss future film projects.

Mr. Palmer’s visit is part of American Film Institute (AFI) Project 20/20, an international cultural exchange program designed to enhance mutual understanding, and collaboration by engaging audiences through filmmakers and their films. 

Mr. Palmer holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television Writing from the highly respected film program at the University of Southern California.  As an actor, he has appeared in The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang and Moving McAllister, the latter which debuted in Cannes.  He also has appeared on the Comedy Central series Halfway Home. 

AFI Project: 20/20 is an initiative of the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities and the American Film Institute (AFI) supported through an unprecedented collaboration between the U.S. Department of State, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Mr. Palmer’s visit to Korea is being arranged by the U.S. Embassy.

American Fork will be screened to selected students and faculty in Seoul and Busan with discussions afterward with the Screenwriter/Actor.  Tuesday, May 6, he will visit Korea’s National University of Arts and Seoul Arts Institute; Wednesday, May 7, the Korean Academy of Film arts; Thursday, May 8, Dongseo University in Busan; Friday, May 9 he meets with the student group Think University, which is a program at the U.S. Embassy Information Resource Center.  In addition, Mr Palmer will meet with officials of the Pusan International Film Festival and participate in a filmmaker’s roundtable, co-sponsored by KOFIC.
