U.S. Department of Agriculture Delegation to visit Korea

A delegation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will visit Korea on Tuesday, January 27, 2004. The delegation will be headed by Dr. J.B. Penn, Under Secretary, Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services. He will be accompanied by Dr. Charles Lambert, Deputy Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs, and Ms. Ellen Terpstra, Administrator, Foreign Agricultural Service.

The delegation will visit Korea in order to discuss with the Korean government the current situation surrounding the one BSE-positive animal and the actions that the United States has taken to ensure the safety of U.S. beef to consumers.

The delegation will hold a press availability at 4:30 p.m. on January 27 in the Information Resource Center of the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Compound, at #10, Namyoung-Dong, Yongsan-ku, Seoul. Journalists interested in covering the event should arrive by 4:00 p.m. and must bring their press card and photo I.D. with them. Please allow sufficient time for security clearance on entering the building. All equipment will need to be inspected before entry.
