Greetings from Consul General Julia R. Stanley

Embassy of the United States of America, Seoul, Korea

Julia R. Stanley

I am very pleased to serve as Consul General at one of the busiest consular sections in the world.  Providing efficient and courteous consular services and assisting Americans in emergency situations are top priorities for the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.  Our American Citizen Services unit processed more than 1,000 Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, 11,000 U.S. passports, and 20,000 notarizations in 2005 for our community of more than 100,000 U.S. citizens in Korea.  I look forward to ensuring that our Consular Section maintains the same high standard of service that is our hallmark no matter how great the demand grows.

I am also aware of what a dynamic and vibrant country Korea is.  The United States has long had a unique relationship with Korea, and I am proud to have the opportunity to strengthen the bond between our two countries.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all American citizens to register with the Embassy through the State Department’s secure travel registration website, https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/home.asp.  Registering is an easy way for you to let the Embassy know that you are in Korea, whether for a long-term stay or a short-term visit.  It allows you to record and update your trip to Korea, a visit to another country, or your contact information on the internet at any time.  Registering enables us to reach you quickly in the event of a crisis abroad or a family emergency back in the United States.  I also invite you to sign up for the American Citizen Services monthly newsletter, cell phone notification (SMS), and e-mail warden messages at http://www.asktheconsul.org/.

Please do not hesitate to contact us directly at seoul_acs@state.gov to ask questions or share your comments and concerns.  The American Citizen Services unit of the Consular Section is here to serve the entire American community in Korea.

Thank you for visiting our American Citizen Services web pages.

Sincerely,

Julia R. Stanley
Consul General
