Transit (C1) Visas
How to Apply
If you wish to transit through the U.S. to your final destination, you must schedule an interview for a C1 visa online at www.us-visaservices.com. Even if you are temporarily in Korea, you must schedule an appointment. Please bring the required documents listed below to your scheduled interview.
Required Documents
A signed passport valid for at least six months after your date of entry into the U.S.
A completed Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application (
DS-157) for each applicant.
A receipt from Shinhan Bank for the visa processing fee. The fee may be paid at any of the bank's branches in Korea. There is a branch only a short walk from the Embassy;
here is a map. A receipt showing payment of the visa application fee for each applicant, including each child listed in a parent's passport who is also applying for a U.S. visa, is needed.
Flight itinerary showing travel plans.
Proof of current employment, such as original bank books which demonstrate economic activity over a period of time, pay receipts, income tax returns and workplace identity card. A letter written by your company attesting to your employment is insufficient.
If you are not a Korean citizen and/or your usual residence is not Korea, please provide proof of your legal status in Korea or a country outside the U.S.
- A courier receipt from an Embassy-approved courier company within Korea. Courier forms are available at the courier service offices or by contacting either DHL Ilyang (1588-0002; www.ilyanglogis.com) or Hanjin (1588-0011; www.hanjin.co.kr) courier company directly.
